Abstract

When plasticized PVC samples are dipped into benzylic alcohol, DOP migration is coupled with liquid transport which occurs in two stages of ebb and flow. The liquid back diffusion was interpreted by considering a gradient of chemical potential as a transfer driving force. Concentration profiles of migrating species within the polymer matrix were established experimentally and local diffusion coefficients computed by means of a theoretical model which is not self-consistent.
