Abstract

This article examines the political, economic, and environmental forces that have shaped the electric power industry in Europe and how cooperation and competition will affect the response to future challenges. The topics of the article include the rise and fall of nuclear power, environmental activism, the european market, the influence of the members of the Common Market, and the effects of privatization and competition in the United Kingdom on other members of the European Community.
