Abstract

In this paper the evolution of Mexican federal civil legislation is reviewed historically, with special reference to the patrimonial regimes of marriage. For this purpose, under a qualitative approach, a exploratory and descriptive study is carried out, using mainly direct sources of consultation, such as old texts of federal civil codes, plans, decrees of the Executive Branch, specialized bibliography and research articles in Electronic format, etc., in order to know the economic, political and social phenomena that determined the content of the legal norms applicable to the regulation of property relations in marriage, in the area of space validity concerning the Mexican State. In particular, it will be understood how the great political events of the second half of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth, led to the creation of new legal provisions applicable to civil marriage, in keeping with the ideological motivations of the emblematic characters of national history.
