Joaquín Dicenta acostumbraba a convertir sus cuentos en obras de teatro y después en novelas. En este artículo se analiza este procedimiento en la génesis y evolución de una historia social: la relación existente entre el relato «El desquite», el drama El señor feudal y la novela Los bárbaros.
