Abstract

Nowadays, one of the main unanswered questions is related to the production and use of electricity because it is expected an increase in the cost of generation, including the Andean Countries. Reason given, this article presents an analysis of the problems that the configurations of Electric Systems of Modern Potency entail. Furthermore, some important components and the requirements that guide the evolution of the electric energy distribution system towards Smart Grid are formulated. These components give an intelligence improvement to the system (Advanced Metering Infrastructure), integrating the Information and Communication Technologies (Telecommunication Architecture Models), offering a better exploitation of the alternative energy fonts (Distributed Generation – Micro networks), a faster answer to failure, and an adaptation to the use of Electric Vehicles (Interaction between Energy Networks and Plug-in Electric Vehicles). In conclusion, all the process mentioned above will go towards the evolution of Smart Grid in the Andean Countries.
