Abstract

We present simultaneous MERLIN and EVN observations at 5 GHz of the BL Lac Object 1400+162. The new images show a knotty jet extending to the east, about 250 mas long, and smoothly bending from p.a. ∼90° to p.a. ∼120°. At the highest resolution, only a compact core has been detected; it accounts for about 30% of the total flux density of the source at this frequency. It is likely that the jet orientation is far away from the line of sight.
