Abstract

The room-temperature adsorption of cyclohexene on clean, sputtered and oxidized Si(111)7 × 7 surfaces at high coverage has been studied using Thermal Desorption Spectrometry. Evidence of a dehydrogenation surface reaction of cyclohexene to benzene during the thermal desorption process was found. The room-temperature adsorption of cyclohexene appeared to be a crucial precursor step for the dehydrogenation surface reaction.
