Abstract

The process of regeneration in plant cells is a key biological process, and the foundation on which all plant tissue culture techniques are based. Despite extensive studies the basis of plant regeneration is mainly unclear, for instance there are many reports of genotype-specificity in plant regeneration protocols. Overcoming such specificity, resulting in the application of protocols to a wider range of genotypes or species, is an elemental objective for many applied plant genetic investigations. Plant cell and tissue culture techniques facilitate studies on the response of single, and interactive factors affecting the differentiation process in plants.
