Abstract

We present photoluminescence studies under electric field pulses of self-assembled multilayer films containing alternate layers of conjugated polymer and nonconjugated insulating polymer (spacer layers). We demonstrate photoluminescence quenching in the presence of an electric field which decreases with the increase of the spacer layer thickness. This is attributed to quantum size effects.
