Abstract
CMXD provides a new probe of local magnetism in ferro(i)magnetic materials. Here, we describe a recent study of the angular dependence of the circular magnetic X-ray dichroism (CMXD) at the DyL 3 edge of the alloy Dy 0.4TB 0.6 to determine the multipolar nature of the dichroic features above and below the absorption edge. Differences in the angular behavior of the feature below the edge are consistent with quadrupolar transitions.
