Abstract

Direct evidence for T-splitting of the dipole state in 26Mg has been obtained by studying the energy spectra of photoneutrons from the two components. The states centered around 17 MeV decay strongly to the ground or low-lying states of 25Mg ( T = 1 2 ) whereas those around 22 MeV decay only to the known T = 3 2 states in 25Mg.
