Abstract
Glaucocystis nostochinearum is a eukaryotic organism with “chloroplasts” that have usually been assumed to be “cyanelles” — i.e., endosymbiotic cyanobacteria. Previous attempts by others to support this assumption by demonstrating the presence of a limiting peptidoglycan envelope have been unsuccessful.
