Abstract

Purpose: The National Health Service (NHS) plan has contributed to the growing entrepreneurial culture of the NHS, providing more autonomy and accountability with expectations of quality and efficiency underpinning best practice. A successful enterprise improvement must have a framework of robust processes designed and applied to meet patient demand. Practice development (PD) plays a key role in transforming healthcare culture and services, which complements the changes occurring in cancer care. The purpose of this study was to develop a unique private physiotherapy practice for cancer patients, promoting patient-centred care, within which care decisions reflect the needs, values and beliefs of the cancer patients and those providing the care.
