Abstract

This is a review of the 5th edition of Evidence-Based Practice for Nurses: Appraisal and Application of Research edited by Nola A. Schmidt and Janet M. Brown (2022). The reviewed book provides an exploration of evidence-based nursing practice, viewed through the lens of traditional perspectives that position the nursing discipline as applied science and approach to nursing practice from the standpoint of the medical model. In this column, the meaning of evidence-based nursing practice is reconsidered within the context of the theory-guided nursing practice arising from the distinctive perspective of the nursing discipline as a human science.
