Abstract

Yevgeny Yevtushenko can be considered one of the most representative poets of the post-Stalin generation. As an interpreter of the cultural needs of the younger generations during the De-Stalinization and the Khrushchev era, Yevtushenko is placed on both sides of that curtain that divides the world into opposing blocs. The paper aims at investigating the deployment of Yevtushenko's poetry, with references to his autobiographical writings (Autobiografija, in particular) and to its role of ideological performer and interpreter of the historical and cultural 'thaw'.
