Abstract

Urinary tract infections are one of the most common causes of imaging in a typical radiology practice on a daily basis and are a great concern for the patient and referring physician. There is an overlap in imaging findings in some of the renal infections, but many urinary tract infections have characteristic imaging features. Patients with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus or immune compromised status are at high risk for urinary tract infection, and in these patients, symptoms often are subtle; hence, urgent imaging is required to rule out life-threatening complications. Common and uncommon urinary tract infections with relevant imaging findings and clinical relevance will be described and illustrated.
