Abstract

Sam traveled to Denver, the Mile High City, for the SEG 2010 Annual Meeting. As he rode in the shuttle from Denver International Airport to his hotel, he took in the view of the distant downtown skyline against the background of the Rocky Mountains and thought of Houston, which has its own array of high-rise towers and office buildings but without any framing geology. No matter—he has seen that same Houston skyline set in a multicolored Texas sunset, an image he thinks is mighty hard to beat.
