In common with many of the more recent academic studies of Florence Nightingale, the editors, Martha Vicinus and Bea Nergaard, of Ever Yours, Florence Nightingale, acknowledge the debt they owe to Sue Goldie. Florence Nightingale was an enthusiastic and prolific letter writer, and approximately 10,000 of these communications have survived.
