Abstract

Event destination selection criteria play a crucial role in event tourism. Understanding and effectively applying these criteria contribute to the success and attractiveness of destinations in the competitive event tourism industry. However, there has not been much research on destination selection criteria for event tourism. To gain a comprehensive understanding of the important criteria in selecting event destinations, it is necessary to conduct research using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Therefore, this research aims to carry out a systematic review of the existing literature to identify and analyze the relevant criteria for selecting destinations for various types of events. This study uses a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach with data sources derived from journal literature from Google Scholar. The research data population is journals with a focus on event tourism and event destinations. The results of this study indicate that research from 2013 – 2023 on event tourism discusses the concept of events as a push factor in tourist destinations. Event tourism destinations mostly discuss the impact of event tourism on destinations both economically, in destination image, and in creating tourist segmentation. And the mostly discusses event tourism destination criteria as consisting of Infrastructure, Accessibility, Accommodation, Safety and Security, Local Support, Cultural and Recreational Activities, Event History, Seasonal Considerations, Marketing and Promotion, Environmental and Sustainability Considerations, Competitive Advantage, Economic Impact.
