Abstract
This paper discusses a method found useful in a relativity course for nonscience majors emphasizing logical reasoning rather than memory of facts. At the point where the Lorentz transformation might be discussed, we instead sketch diagrams of the two systems ’’according to S at time t,’’ and ’’according to S′ at time t′.’’ Each pair of sketches is related by one common event. Several specific examples illustrate the method.
