Abstract
Candor compels this reviewer to declare a favorable bias toward C. Barber Mueller's book, based on half a century of friendship with the author and continuing contact with his biographic effort during its decade of gestation. In addition, Dr. Evarts A. Graham was strikingly hospitable and generous with advice to me as a fledgling surgical departmental chairman at St. Louis University, overshadowed as we were by the established surgical eminence of Washington University.
