Abstract

Evaporative cooling is an energy efficient, environmentally friendly and cheap air conditioning technology. In this paper, the principles underlying the operation of evaporative cooling (EC) systems are recalled and their novel design characteristics are discussed. The review is presenting in details: theory, working principles, flow and construction of various EC system. Paper describes the work done by various researchers on conventional and newly developed cooling systems. The working principles and thermodynamic characteristics of different types of EC i.e. direct, indirect and dew point EC are discussed.
