Abstract

Objective: To identify the sensory responsiveness pattern using Dunn’s Sensory Profile and severity of social impairment using Social Responsiveness Scale in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Methodology: Cross sectional quantitative study design with convenient sampling was used. This study involved 20 children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder aged 5-6 from special School in and around Chennai. Caregiver’s Sensory profile and social Responsiveness Scale was administered in order to quantify the severity and pattern of sensory responsiveness. Result: Significant relation were found between social responsiveness scores and each of the six sensory system profile scores for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder Conclusion: Atypical sensory responsiveness pattern is predominant in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
