Abstract

The Veteran Council has made three nation-wide comprehensive evaluations for 18 veteran care homes since 2002. Items of social work services were the main focuses in these evaluations. For these six years, veteran care homes has progressed a lot which may not be easily described with short words. This article is dealing with their quality of different services and its evolutions in order to illustrate the development processes. This paper consists of the following three parts: 1. Personal care services before 2002. 2. Social services between 2002 and 2005. 3. Social work after 2005. Suggestions and conclusion were illustrated as follow: 1. Human rights for elderly people ought to be emphasized. 2. Reminiscence group works ought to be developed in the near future. 3. The hospice care should consider more spiritual concerns. 4. More social work professional works ought to be promoted. 5. The integration of three main services—care services, social work and medical services has been essential as well.
