Abstract

Heat gain for buildings is a common incident and is inevitable as building is exposed to surrounding climate. Positive thermal heat balance within building and specially building materials are an important means in search of thermal indoor comfort. Buildings consist of different materials which have its own different characteristics in terms of thermal conductivity, thermal resistivity, specific heat, and thermal diffusivity. In this study, the effect of heat on selected timber species was investigated based on data collected from KD2 Pro thermal analyzer at unsteady-state. The study has been done on selected tropical timber species from strength group two, four, five, and seven from MS 544 Table 3: Strength Groups. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship of thermal properties with different timber species.
