Abstract

:Lens opacity attenuatesthe contrast sensitivity and clarity of eye due to scattering of light, which leads to poorvision in cataract patients.Phacoemulsification with primary intraocular lens is theprimary surgical approach. Some complaints of vision discomfort commonly occur although thevision acuity is good.It is,therefore, vital for us to seek an objective evaluation systemof visual quality after cataract surgery.Contrast sensitivity test and visualquestionnaire offer valuable input for this issue.Contrast sensitivity can estimate visionfunction more accurately to better measure visual impairment preoperatively and visionoutcome after cataract extraction. Key words: Cataract/surgery; Contrast sensitivity; Visual function
