Abstract

The residual deposits of 42 compounds applied to painted and unpainted galvanized metal, tempered masonite, and asphalt tile at one or all of the dosage rates of 50, 100, and 200 mg per square foot (except ronnel and Zectran® (4-dimethylamino-3,5-xylyl methylcarbamate) were evaluated against adult females of laboratory-reared, chlordane-resistant German cockroaches, Blattella germanica (L.). On the basis of dosage on the 4 surfaces, Baygon®( 0 -isopropoxypheny1 methylcarbamate) and Hercules 9699 ( 0 (2-propynyloxy) phenyl methylcarbamate) were more satisfactory than the other compounds. Baygon gave 2-6 weeks of satisfactory kills with very little difference in percent mortality between the 100 and 200 mg per square foot of residues. Hercules 9699 was particularly effective on unpainted metal and tile (28 weeks) and least effective on masonite (10).
