Evaluation of User Oriented Library Services in Select NIT Libraries

Abstract

This research paper focuses on the study of useroriented traditional as well as Information and Communication Technology based library services in the libraries of selected National Institute of Technology in India. The study highlights the status of availability of various traditional and ICT-based facilities and services in select NITs. It further goes on elaborating the awareness about these services amongst users. Attempts have been made to find out the usage of these services vis-a-vis their availability and awareness regarding them. The authors have used descriptive research methodology and conducted surveys to gather empirical data using standard tools like structured questionnaire. They devised a separate questionnaire to gather the response of library users to ascertain the level of awareness and usage of library traditional and ICT-based services. Based upon the findings, some suggestions have been set forth to strengthen the facilities, services and also enhance their reach and access to the users.
