Abstract

SummaryThe reactions of a sample of flight candidates in the U. S. Naval School, Pre‐Flight were used to investigate the effect of response format on subject resistance to a forced‐choice self‐rating scale. The results indicated that the subjects were more favorable toward a response format allowing them to indicate the degree of applicability of each statement in the forced‐choice pairs, even though still forced to choose one statement as relatively more applicable.
