Abstract

In this paper, the alternative transient program is used to solve the thermal network for high-voltage bushings in which the thermal capacitance is the key component leading to the thermal transient as it reflects the capability of a material to store energy. The modeling method is discussed. The test and simulation results are in good agreement for the thermal steady state and transient of the bushings. The transient results are then used to evaluate the bushing overload capability.
