Abstract
The effects of the various experimental parameters on mass resolution of MALDI-TOF and MALDI with delayed extraction are evaluated using an ion flight simulation program. With this program we are able to examine the effects of initial position, initial velocity, delay time, and ion kinetic energy on the line width of TOF spectra. A description of the model is presented as well as data showing the effects of DE parameters on the arrival time distribution of ions in linear and reflectron TOF mass spectra.
