Abstract

The formate-process-based MHD (magnetohydrodynamics) seed reprocessing option is considered. Experimental studies carried out to develop a complete solid-liquid separation (SLS) system to recover the soluble potassium sulfate from spent seed as well as an SLS system to remove insoluble gypsum formed in the formate reactor are reported. Preliminary economics of the proposed SLS system are determined and related to the overall cost of the formate process. >
