Abstract

We proposed a model for the numerical evaluation of the service life of the load-bearing frames of sections of boom field sprayers made of St.3 steel. The service life of boom elements is represented as the sum of periods of initiation and subcritical growth of fatigue cracks determined according to the Wohler diagram and kinetic diagram of fatigue crack growth. By using this model, we compute the service life of a boom for the maximum amplitudes of cyclic bending of its weakest elements. It is shown that, in this case, the service life is more than twice lower than the normative values.
