Abstract

Environmental dust has been evaluated quantitatively and qualitatively in samples taken three times a day during the winter from a stable in which thoroughbred horses are trained, situated on the outskirts of Milan (near the San Siro Galloping Race Track). In addition to the quantity of dust, the major fungal species in the environment were sampled to see how they affect the respiratory function of the horses.
