Abstract

Abstract Oxfendazole* was tested at the dose rates of 5 mg/kg in sheep and 2.5 mg/kg in cattle against experimental infections of some common gastrointestinal nematodes of sheep and cattle. In sheep the recorded efficacy was 99% to 100% against all stages of Haemonchus contortus, Ostertagia spp., and intestinal Trichostrongylus spp. and 91% to 98% against various stages of Nematodirus spp. In cattle the efficacy was 99% against Cooperia oncophora and ranged from 77% to 98% against various developmental stages of Ostertagia ostertagi.
