Abstract

Background: Lumbar spine degeneration is a common disease in the working age group, aged 45 years and older, increasing with age. Degeneration of the lumbar spine not only affects the health of the sick but also affects the quality of life of the patient. Long needle electrical acupuncture is a method of using long and large needles with the technique of pricking through the meridians – connecting the meridians – penetrating the meridians to regulate Qi and Blood faster and stronger. Therefore, long needle electrical acupuncture combined with “Doc hoat tang ky sinh” remedy produce high clinical efficacy. Objectives: To evaluate the effects of long electrical acupunture combined with “Doc hoat tang ky sinh” remedy in the treatment of lumbar pain. Methods: There are 30 patients diagnosed with lumbar pain due to degeneration of the lumbar spine at the Traditional Medicine Hospital of Thua Thien Hue province. A prospective study, clinical evaluation before and after treatment. Results: Good level occupied 26.7%; fair good level occupied 56.6%; averge good level occupied 16.7%. There was significant differences before and after treatment. During treatment there were no clinically significant side effects. Conclusion: The treatment of lumbar pain due to degeneration of the spine by long needlle electrical acupuncture combined with “Doc hoat tang ky sinh” remedy results in high clinical effectiveness.
