Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a widespread medical condition among elderly patients. The aim of the study: to study the results of the analysis of multifactorial control of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Materials and methods. The study included 123 elderly patients (the average age of patients was 66.7 ± 5.6 years), who were admitted to the gerontological hospital in Irkutsk for treatment. The results of achieving the target values of glycated hemoglobin, blood pressure, lipid profile were analyzed, the choice of a lipid-normalizing drug and its dose to control lipid metabolism, correction of modifiable risk factors in the elderly were analyzed. Results. On admission, 21.2% of patients had a target level of glycated hemoglobin, 45.5% – a target level of blood pressure and 18.7% – target values of LDL cholesterol. All three factors were controlled before treatment in only 14.6% of patients. Conclusion. Evaluation of the effectiveness of multifactorial control of type 2 diabetes mellitus showed that only every fifth patient reaches the target values of glycated hemoglobin, blood pressure and lipid profile.
