Abstract
The increasing need of computation resources in scientific applications has led to the emergence of metacomputing (or Grid Computing) techniques. DIET is a plateform for the integration of Network Enabled Servers in an ASP environment. In this paper, we exhibit experimental results obtained with the DIET (Distributed Interactive Engineering Toolbox) prototype that we develop. DIET is built on a CORBA based distributed architecture and thus benefit from a true distributed system base. The DIET architecture lays on a hierarchical interconnection of agents to avoid bottlenecks. We present the main algorithms to broke a client request for problem solving. The experimental results show the benefit of the distributed and hierarchical approach of DIET. We show how it extends the classical ASP model limits. Finally we present a reflection on the most efficient deployment of the platform.
