Abstract

The CO2 capture performance in post-combustion conditions (CO2 diluted in nitrogen at near atmospheric pressure) of an aminated biomass-based carbon is compared to that of two commercial activated carbons. All the evaluated samples showed selectivity for CO2 over N2, being able to separate a binary mixture of CO2 and N2, and were easily regenerated by raising the temperature up to 373 K. The aminated carbon showed superior CO2 adsorption capacity at low CO2 partial pressures, leading to a better capture performance in a simple TSA cycle configuration without presenting any signs of deactivation over 40 cycles.
