Abstract

Alignment error is a common system error existing in joule balance and watt balance for measuring the Planck constant. This paper presents the analysis and measurement of alignment error caused by horizontal ampere forces and magnetic torques. The cause of the horizontal forces and torques are discussed, and the solving model of them is established. After that, to decouple the mixed forces and torques, the suspension of the coil is improved with a double-hinge decoupling unit. Finally, the relative uncertainty contributing to h caused by the alignment error is evaluated to be approximately 6.24 × 10−7.
