Abstract
In Reply.— We heartily agree with Dr Winzelberg that CT is useful for examination of patients with mediastinal or chest masses, including those who have superior vena cava syndrome of unknown cause. Despite these radiological advances, however, pathological diagnosis—either by cytological or microscopic section—is still imperative. Thus, there is a need for invasive procedures such as bronchoscopy and thoracentesis in patients with superior vena cava syndrome of unknown cause.
