Abstract

ObjectiveThe objective of this study was to evaluate serum visceral adipose tissue-derived serpin (vaspin) level with the severity of coronary artery disease (CAD).BackgroundThere is controversy between the researchers on the subject of serum vaspin concentration in CAD.Patients and methodsTwenty control and 68 CAD patients were enrolled in this study. Vaspin was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay method.ResultsSerum levels of vaspin were significantly low in patients with CAD compared with healthy controls and low vaspin concentrations were correlated with CAD severity.ConclusionsDecreased serum vaspin levels were observed in the existence and severity of CAD in patients assessed by coronary angiography.
