Abstract

Background: Ratings of Perceived Exertion (RPE) were designed to assess an individual's exercise intensity as a percentage of their maximal oxygen capacity (VO2max%). Subsequently, RPE are used to determine exercise test endpoints and exercise training intensities. As such, the validity of reported RPE values within a given population contributes to the accuracy and safety of exercise testing and training. However, the validity of RPE has not been assessed among women with breast cancer.
