Abstract

Textbooks are the most important resources used by teachers in classes. Physics textbooks were renewed in line with the modifications in physics teaching program in 2007. The study aimed to identify teacher views on 9th grade physics textbooks and a scale was developed for that purpose. After piloting, the scale was implemented to 104 physics teachers from various provinces in Turkey who participated in Physics Teaching Programs Course #283 organized by the Ministry of National Education (MoNE). Lawshe technique was utilized for validity analysis for the scale and Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient was found to be 0,90. Teacher views for scale items were provided as frequencies and percentages and statistical analyses for teacher views were provided for gender, type of school, title and seniority variables. Research results show that teacher views on textbooks do not change according to gender, type of school that the teachers work in, title or seniority however teacher views on scale dimensions change in levels “I agree” or “I disagree”.
