Abstract

With the widely growth in the data generation using applications such as networks, file, and video sharing is demanding for the data availability and reliability. Distributed storage clusters performs an important role in this case by providing data redundancy and fault tolerance over storage node. This paper presents the performance evaluation of the distributed storage cluster build using heterogeneous storage devices. In this paper we discuss the performance parameters such as storage efficiency, repair bandwidth and I/Othroughput. The storage cluster test-bed is setup using heterogeneous storage devices for the parameters evaluation. In this SATA and IDE with different hard drives are used. Experimental results for the RAID and Erasure Code for K=3 are presented in this paper and in future we plan to carryout evaluation for different K values of erasure such as, k=l, k=2 k=4.
