Abstract

Approaches to patient care evaluation (process, outcome, and process-outcome) are placed in perspective and organized into a framework which clarifies the need for working toward the goal of process-outcome evaluation. Some issues of interest to researchers and to quality control programs are discussed, and recommendations are made.
