Abstract

Moscow Metro is a major transport system in Moscow. Moscow Metro ranks sixth in the utilization rate top list, being behind the metro of Beijing, Tokyo, Shanghai, Seoul, Guangzhou, and seventh in the length top list of lines operated. On average, over 7 million passengers use the metro every day; on weekdays, the number of passengers exceeds 9 million – the highest rate in the world. More than 11 thousand trains pass through the 14 lines of metro every day. An acoustic (noise) impact has a systemic effect on the human body. Primarily, it suppresses the central nervous system, diminishes hearing dramatically, and provoke a number of occupational diseases. This paper presents historical aspects of the Moscow Metro formation, prerequisites for the long-term development program. The noise effect of the 30s of the last century and the modern state are compared. Such kind of study is quite important and will promote designing of the new “low-noise” cars in the future.
