Abstract
Abstract Taper systems are useful for estimating the diameter at any height, the height at any diameter, and volume for any portion of tree boles. A test of nine systems on four Appalachian hardwoods was made to provide guidance in selection of the most appropriate equations. A model by Ormerod (1973) using coefficients by Martin (1981) was best for a total taper system. North. J. Appl. For. 11(1):24-26.
