Abstract
The paper presents a variational formulation for the impedance of a longitudinal slot in the broadwall of a rectangular waveguide taking the effects of internal energy storage and wall thickness into account. The contribution of the dominant mode to the stored energy in the case of the longitudinal slot not considered in earlier publications is included in the present analysis. The admittance data is evaluated for different displacements of broadwall longitudinal slot and comparison between the theoretical and experimental results is presented. A comparison is also made between the impedance data obtained by the present methods and those obtained using the moment method analysis.
