Abstract
Nanocomposite films of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)–poly(N‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone) (PVP) blend filled with different weight percentages of nano‐silica were prepared using solution intercalation method. At first, to better dispersion and good compatibility of nano‐silica embedded in the polymer matrix, surface tailoring of it was carried out by two bio‐safe molecules, citric acid and l(+)‐ascorbic acid. Then, the effect of the modified nano‐silica (MS) on the PVA–PVP blend was studied. So, different characterization techniques were running including, Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR) spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction analysis (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE‐SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis) spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).
